History

The Institute for Research and Community Service (LP2M) is an institution under the management of UIN Raden Mas Said Surakarta. The existence of LP2M UIN Said Surakarta originated from the issuance of Presidential Regulation Number 1 of 2011 concerning the Change of Surakarta State Islamic College into Surakarta State Islamic Institute and the issuance of Minister of Religious Affairs Regulation Number 19 of 2011 concerning Organization and Work Procedures of Surakarta State Islamic Institute. Now it has changed again based on Presidential Regulation (Perpres) of the Republic of Indonesia Number 42 of 2021 concerning the Change of Surakarta State Islamic Institute into Raden Mas Said Surakarta State Islamic University.
LP2M UIN Said Surakarta is an expansion of the Research Institute and Community Service Institute of UIN Said Surakarta, based on the Minister of Religious Affairs Regulation No. 24 of 2013 concerning Work Procedure Organization. The expansion of this institution is intended to expand and improve the effectiveness of institutional performance. The main function of LP2M UIN Said Surakarta is to mobilize, develop, and publish the results of research and community service (P2M) for the academic community so that it benefits the wider community, as a realization of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education.
LP2M UIN Said Surakarta, although under the auspices of Islamic Universities, the realization of research activities and P2M is expected to be able to reach more than just religious issues. The existence of LP2M is also projected to reach social, cultural, educational, economic, legal, political and technological issues. Through various research studies and P2M, LP2M UIN Said Surakarta tries to play a significant role in improving the quality of Indonesian human resources.
LP2M UIN Said Surakarta is ready to be a partner in solving various problems faced by the community through quality research and service and development that is visionary, functional and adaptive. LP2M UIN Said Surakarta always maintains its identity as a reliable and trusted institution in the field of research and community service as well as the development of science, social, culture, education, economy, law, politics and technology, in addition to the religious field. This is realized through:
(1) Research and P2M and development at the normative-doctrinal and historical-sociological levels;
(2) Facilitation of research and P2M and development that is applicable and functional for institutions and community development;
(3) Dissemination of research and P2M results and studies through various media to the wider community and;
(4) Increasing reliable research resources.
